Madam loved to watch the play of light through the water. The movement of the fish only made it more enchanting. Whenever her mind began to wander to the past, back to that night on the divan or any one of the hundreds of memories she’d rather forget, the swirling fish took her away to the place where life was beautiful, she was loved and young, and the Elms of the manor reached deep into the sky.
