The water poured down around Madam as she broke through the surface of the water. She took a great gasp of air. It was decided then. She would face it if she must. The past, the truth, whatever came out. She would look back to those days, long gone. She’d call up all the ghosts and open the doors shuttered for near a half century. She pushed herself up, hands planted firmly on the stone, pond water coming down like rain. It’s time to clean house.
